Oroxylum indicum

Oroxylum indicum is a traditional Ayurvedic herb also known as the Indian trumpet tree or Shyonaka (in Hindi). Mostly cultivated in South East Asia, its plant parts have been used in traditional folk medicine to combat inflammation, fever, diarrhoea, respiratory conditions, etc. It is also used as a tonic and is part of the well-known Ayurvedic herbal formulations Chyavanprash, Brahma Rasayan, Amartarista, Narayan Taila and Dasamoolarishta. Oroxylum indicum is also a rich source of unique flavonoids.
